Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Profile

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is Thailand’s primary agency responsible for managing international relations and implementing the country’s foreign policy. It represents the Royal Thai Government in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, with the goal of protecting national interests and contributing to the development of international norms. The ministry also works to safeguard the rights of Thai nationals abroad and deliver high-quality consular services.

MFA’s mission includes advising the government on foreign policy, promoting international cooperation, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices to support Thailand’s development. It also works to enhance Thailand’s image globally, carry out official protocol functions, and coordinate foreign affairs efforts across domestic agencies. The ministry manages Thailand’s international development cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Guided by the vision of being a lead organization in foreign policy, MFA upholds the values of CARE—Constructive, Accountable, Reliable, and Excellent. These values reflect a commitment to professionalism, innovation, and integrity in the pursuit of national goals.

Strategically, the ministry focuses on strengthening regional and global partnerships, supporting ASEAN integration, boosting economic diplomacy, and enhancing Thailand’s international credibility. It also aims to improve public understanding of foreign affairs and build an effective, modern organization. Through these efforts, MFA plays a critical role in advancing Thailand’s interests in an increasingly complex global environment.
